A New Tradition

Haven't posted on this blog for a while, but thanks for those of you who followed along on our Italian vacation on my other blog. Let me tell you, it was an easy way to let people know what we were doing and that we were okay. Easier and faster than postcards! For those who want to catch up on it, click on my profile and you'll find the Italy blog there.

Although our trip was wonderful, there was a few sacrifices we had to make, one being our annual 4th of July trip to Central Oregon. The kids were disappointed, they always have so much fun there and that's all they know! They've never been anywhere else for the holiday. And I wondered what type of entry I'd have in my little Independence Day album, the one where I document the fun time we have every year. This year was really going to consist of last minute packing and heading to the airport in the evening.

We decided to participate in the little 4th of July parade that our neighborhood has every year. We didn't know what to expect, since we're usually out of town, but the girls headed on their bikes to the meeting place and off they went. It was small and fairly uneventful... but the girls got to ride their bikes, wave their flags and show off their dog.

We then worked on some more packing, but made sure we had a proper holiday dinner, hamburgers, baked beans, etc. After dropping us off at the airport, the girls went and saw fireworks with their grandparents, uncle and cousin. It wasn't our usual tradition, but we had a celebration nonetheless and I have some pictures for my album.
