I love my Christmas Albums!

As I've mentioned in a previous blog, I love my Christmas album. I mention it now, for obvious reasons, but also because I make it part of my Christmas decor... I bring it out and set it on the coffee table for people to look at. There are many reasons I love it.

1- I have some place to put the wonderful Christmas card pictures that people send me every year. I know how much work it takes to find the perfect picture and make the prints, etc. so now I don't have to feel bad about throwing them out, they are forever preserved in my album!

2- This is a chance to not only watch my family grow, but my friends' and relatives' families grow as well. I started our Christmas albums the first year we were married and we only had a very few Christmas card pictures to include. Now, with bigger families and more kids to proudly show off, my album is full of watching families grow and kids grow up!

3- Every year has a story. Like my other albums, I can look back on a picture and it will immediately take me back to that time. And as I love Christmas, I love to revisit those memories. Like I look at pictures of Christmas 1999 when my oldest daughter had a slight fever because she was cutting a tooth, but still kept opening present after present with the wide-eyed wonder of a 1-year old. Or Christmas 2003 when EVERYTHING my youngest daughter got was related to the Lion King.

4- I love reading our Christmas letters every year and remembering what we did throughout the year and the milestones we chose to write about. These albums will truly be our family history, wonderful ways for the girls to look back... not only at the Christmas celebrations, but a quick synopsis of the whole year.

I can't emphasize enough how much I think it's a good idea to make a Christmas album. I know, you're thinking, "great, another project". But it's actually quick to update every year and fun to decorate. Let me know if you'd like to see mine to get ideas, I'm happy to share it with you.

Merry Christmas!
